Dear Friends,
There is much going on at the church even as we slow for summer family activities. This coming Saturday from 4-7PM is the PRIDE Event at Klamath Lutheran Church (1175 Crescent Ave.). If you are part of the LGBTQAI+ community or a needed ally, we invite you to come and enjoy yourself with us as we fellowship and celebrate our stands for equity in this world, particularly the Klamath area. Please come and fellowship with us. This a joint endeavor with our church, Klamath Lutheran and Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in town. Together we can make a difference.
Thank you for contributing kid-friendly food the Interfaith Food Pantry. We took a large load over on Tuesday and would like to do the same this coming week So, please this Sunday refill the table in the entry area of the church with the following items: peanut butter, jelly/jam, canned spaghetti or ravioli, chunky soups, applesauce, canned fruit, breakfast bars, cereal. Summer is the time when children are not in school getting breakfast and lunch. Please give these kid-friendly foods to help make up for this deficit. We also need hygiene products and cleaning products. The pantry is coming up this Tuesday, June 30th and volunteering can run between 4-7 PM or when you can make it. If you want to volunteer, please contact aliciapinkerton@gmail.com.
We also have a new opportunity for service at the Klamath Interfaith Food Pantry. We have planted a vegetable garden, and we need help tending it. I have taken a walk through the garden, and it is very thoughtfully laid out and would be easy to tend. So go take a look and if you see grass or weeds, kindly pluck them up. Call Margo if you are interested in doing any more. Her number is 541-892-279. We need someone to just agree to walk through and make sure the irrigation system has been turned on in the mornings and pull a weed or grass when you take a walk through the garden. We need volunteers from our church to do this regularly. Fridays are especially appreciated.
Our Picnic in the Park is coming up in August so mark your calendars. It is August 16 from 10-one and is always lots of fun. We will have games and loads of laughter. We will be at the pavilion at Moore Park.
We are taking the summer off from meetings for business as we have so many people traveling and with other plans. We are now attaching the monthly reports to the last Friday with Friends of each month. We will do this through the summer. Please find the reports you would have gotten with the business meeting minutes before.
I hope you are all enjoying this weather and have had a lot to smile about so far this summer. If you are traveling, we are praying for safe journeys as you travel. If you are in the area on Sunday, I look forward to seeing you Sunday at 10:00. The message is on having a purpose. The fellowship is always good.
Leigh Tolton
