Dear Friends,
There is a bible verse that talks about the church being one body made up of many different parts, all depending on one another. I see that here at Klamath Falls Friends Church. So many people have such unique talents and interests. Some are into hospitality, while others can focus on minute details in a budget report. There is a place for everyone, and everyone is needed to help us be whole.
One thing that someone is doing is helping to sell these
bracelets. They are made from bombs that we dropped on
Laos between the years of 1964 to 1973. We dropped
250,000,000 bombs in Laos, and not all of them have
exploded even after 52 years making a lot of the land
dangerous. But the people of Laos are resilient. They began
melting these bombs into bracelets.
Friends Committee on National Legislation partnered with a
local Laotian group and is selling these bracelets engraved
with their slogans: “War is not the answer” and “Love thy neighbor (no exceptions).”
Scars of war are being turned into hopes for the future. The proceeds from selling the bracelets goes to help clear bombed areas, making it safer for future generations. They can be purchased at fcnl.org/bracelets.
Another is dance. Sometimes we forget that our bodies are joyful containers for our souls. Sarah and Carl are leaving us to move to another country. But not without our focus on making sure they know how much we are going to miss them. Sarah wants to give something back to us as well—a dance. Both of these things will be held at a party at Klamath Falls Friends Church after worship on July 20, 2025. We know it is unusual, but it can be lots of fun, as Sarah leads us in a dance she developed to praise the earth and its inhabitants. Come and tell them “Good-bye.”
That is not the end of the fun things we have planned. On August 10, 2025, we will have a picnic at Moore Park. Bible Study starts at 9 and an abbreviated worship at 10 is followed by fellowship and games. We will be under the pavilion, so you can choose to be out of the sun, and we want everyone to come and know they are welcome. So bring a dish and let’s share a time of fellowship and fun. August 10, Moore Park.
I’m looking forward to getting together with all of you. Come and enjoy!!!!!
Blessings,
Leigh
